International Transport Forum ITF
This year's International Transport Forum (ITF) Summit in Leipzig is the world's largest gathering of transport ministers and the most important event dedicated to global transport policy.
The annual forum brings together representatives from governments, businesses, academia, and international organizations from over 60 countries. Participants discuss the future of mobility, road safety, ecology, and modern technologies (such as AI and autonomous vehicles). Each edition has a guiding theme, focusing on global challenges, such as the decarbonization of transport or the resilience of supply chains in crisis situations.
This is where global transport strategies are forged and the most important contracts in the infrastructure sector are made.
During the event, you can see an exhibition dedicated to the history of Polish railways over a period of 100 years.
The exhibition, showcasing selected key moments in the history of Polish railways, is not only a summary of their rich tradition but also a starting point for showing where they currently stand, what their most important goals are, and what challenges they face. At individual stages of this shared journey, you will see how, since 1918, after Poland regained its independence, the railway integrated lands previously under three different partitions, how it developed, contributing to the successive increase in society's mobility and the economic development of the Second Polish Republic. You will discover the moment of the official establishment of Polish State Railways, their expansion, but also the tragic times of World War II and the enormous role that railway workers played in the country's defense, and then the railway's reconstruction after the war. You will also see more recent and very contemporary times. Records in passenger transport and the effects of investment programs, including in rolling stock and stations, where European Union funds played a significant role, are also presented.
