Science & Technology Film Festival 2025
The Cinema of the Future in Krakow. The first Science & Technology Film Festival is four days full of emotions, discoveries, and inspiration – hundreds of films from around the world, an international competition, expert panels, the iconic „Sonda,” and science fiction cinema in an unusual, futuristic setting.
The 1st International Festival of Scientific and Technological Films, Science, will take place in Krakow from October 22nd to 25th, 2025. This event aims not only to recognize the best film productions on scientific and technological topics but also to become a platform for exchanging knowledge, ideas, and experiences between the worlds of science, business, and art. The festival program includes both competitive screenings and special sections, where viewers will see popular science, documentary, and feature films from around the globe. Festival participants will also have the opportunity to meet filmmakers and scientists, as well as engage in debates, workshops, and panel discussions.
The organizers emphasize that the festival is not just a film review, but above all an important voice in the global debate about the future. Its idea is to transcend boundaries, both geographical and disciplinary, and to connect what often seems distant in everyday life – laboratories and cinemas, scientists and artists, technology and emotions.
The Science & Technology Film Festival 2025 will launch at Krakow Technology Park, recognized as the heart of innovation and technological development in Poland. Over 100 film screenings and accompanying events will also take place in several unique locations across Krakow. Each of these will be named after legendary spacecraft from classic science fiction films and series. Audiences will be invited aboard these „cinema-ships,” which will take them on a journey through a world of films where technology merges with art and tales of the future. You'll be able to embark on this cinematic journey directly from aboard iconic vessels docked at Krakow Technology Park: USCSS Nostromo, USS Enterprise, Discovery One I'm Protus. There will also be more unusual stops – USS Sulaco I am studying at the Academy of Fine Arts, Skyship One will carry viewers over the city in Sky7 Krakow, and Cosmokrator turn the Main Post Office Meeting Club into a unique B-movie cinema arena. In turn Red Dwarf will find their place at the AGH Faculty of Computer Science, perfectly fitting into the climate of extracting „data of the future.”.
An important element of the Science & Technology Film Festival is its international film competition, featuring productions from all over the world. It is intended to showcase the diversity and creativity with which cinema can tell stories about science and technology – from intimate stories about discoveries, through documentary portraits of scientists, to imaginative animations and science fiction features. For the festival's first edition, over 1300 submissions from 120 countries were received, of which 58 films qualified for the main competition. The productions will compete in six categories: feature-length and short fiction films, documentaries, animations, and the best Polish film. Among the laureates, the winner will be selected. Grand Prix Festival – the most important award, given for exceptional artistic vision, originality, and strength of message.
The Program of the Science & Technology Film Festival 2025 goes far beyond film screenings. The organizers have prepared a series of events that will allow us to look at science and technology from various, often surprising perspectives. An integral part of the event will be panel discussions, with the participation of experts, dedicated to the latest technological achievements, challenges, and trends.
